Increase Productivity With A Framing Nail Gun
Construction work is all about making money as fast as you can. Out in the field speed counts for quite a bit, and the faster you can go, the more money you can make. This is true for all of the trades, and particularly true for framing. The framing is a vital component in the whole structure, and pays accordingly. One good way to increase productivity is with a framing nail gun.
All wood framing is held together with nails. Driving those nails into the co-joined pieces of lumber is what a framer does, almost all day long. The traditional ways to do so, obviously, is with a hammer and nails. A nail gun takes the place of the hammer, and does the driving for you.
This is done with pneumatic force, by forcing air through the gun, to the nail driver, and then into the lumber. With the pull of a trigger, a carpenter can sink a nail that would have taken two or three strokes of the hammer. With practice, using a nailer can increase speed considerably.
Again, speed equals money in the building trades, so investing in a good gun may not be a bad idea. They come in many different sizes, and many different makes. For the framer, what is needed s one that can handle eight penny and sixteen penny nails, both. This is a very common size, and many options are available.
Unfortunately, the nailer itself is not the only piece of equipment needed. You will also need an air compressor and the necessary hoses to hook everything up together. Compressors, too, come in a wide variety of sizes and styles. But for the framer there are many specific types that are ready to use basically right out of the box.
Some will even be airless, and not need the additional compressor and hoses. These operate with canisters, but can be very expensive. Over time, replacing air canisters as compared to using a compressor may not be as cost effective. Figuring out exactly what you need, and how often it will be used, and ease of use will be necessary in order to get the best deal.
Yet the basic framing nail gun set up will be in any professional’s best interest. The ability to work faster, and cleaner, makes purchasing one a sound investment. In a business where speed is everything, finding any way to increase it is going to be a good idea.
